Oct 21 - Oct 27

This week was primarily spent working on the Thrill-o-meter project:

- Experimenting with 7 segment display to see how it can be controlled with arduino using shift registers.

- Programming the interface using project brief as the guideline and testing the system on myself to check the    results.

- Finalizing the required components and ordering them.

- Testing the components.


- First test on babies done on Friday in university to assess the reliability of the system and making changes      to it accordingly.

Oct 14 - Oct 20

This week most I put most of time researching on projects along with other office work.

- Thrill-o-meter project research
       - Background research on Galvanic Skin Response
       - Research for required components
       - experimenting with Arduino and eHealth shield

- Alex’s project
       - understanding a Sterling engine

- Learning to use Horizon

- Solidworks Tutorials

Summary of work done:

- Preparation for Futures festival at university.

- Assisted Alex with workshop demonstrating Foxhole radio to students

- Maintenance work for labs and organizing labs.

- Introduction to Design spark. Designed circuit diagram for SAM project.

- Research on electronic components. How to choose right components for a given task.

- Organised new loaning equipment in office.

- Assembled Lego Mindstorm robots for Open Day at university.

- Tested Foxhole Radio for Open Day at university.

- Made Pulse Monitor using myDAQ and Labview

Sept 02 - Sep 08

In the first week of placement I completed the induction and familiarized myself with various university facilities.Here is a brief description of things done:

- Maintenance and arrangement of Labs and testing of new equipment in college building and installation of extra AV cables for better access to the projector for teaching purposes.

- Introduction to university's system for loaning equipment called Horizon.

- Learned how to re-image computers over a network and back up of important data using software called Acronis True Image and DeepFreeze.

- Introduction by Dr. Vaibhav to Step 7 programming for Siemens S7-1200 PLC

- Practice with Solidworks. 3D modelling, using multiple planes and fillets etc.
